Mobile Phone

I sent my 6230 to repair cos the speaker stopped working, and the shop rang me to say that they couldn't fix it.

And if they did, it would have costed me around $90.

A new 6230 now would probably cost under $300.

Hm...

So ...Now i'm in the process of choosing a new phone.

I've decided that i've had...6 years of nokia phones and its time to try out other brands.

So now i'm deciding between sonyericsson and SHarp.

My requirements for phone:

1. MP3 - good speakers, mp3 ringtone of course, good mp3 player with easy to access mp3 interface
2. expandable memory - so i can store more mp3 of course
3. Good loud ring
4. Easy text messaging interface

These are the most important features that i'll use daily. However it'd be great if i can have a nice nice camera so when i forget my proper camera i can use my cellphone.

Which brings about a dilemma:

Both phones in SE and Sharp have good mp3 and camera functions, however:

Sonyericsson has my desired good walkman series with nice to use mp3 player, but its cameras are not as good - no optical zoom!
Sharp has good cameras with 2X optical zoom - and its phones can play mp3 too, however i've never played with sharp phones and i duno how good the user interface and messaging style is...

So what to do what to do?

Now let me introduce the top 3 ranking phones in my to-buy list: (notice how nokia is out of the picture already, and yes, i have looked around at their N series...however...)

From most likely to buy to least likely to buy:

1. Sonyericsson W810i
I liked the w800i when i saw its preview like almost 1.5 years ago - but i didn't like the silver and orange look - however this new model is now black and looks more sleeker than the w800i - its almost a cross btwn the K750i (another possibility), and the w800i - perfect!

Specs: 100X46X19.5 mm
2.0 megapix camera with 4X digital zoom and flas
Sony memorycard duo expandable with 20mb internal memory
mp3 player of course

This phone is not out yet tho - but, since its practically the same as the w800i which is already out ...hopefully it won't break the NT$20000 mark?? it better be less than NZ$1000!!!!! (the w800i is NT$15000)









2. Sonyericsson K800i
At the moment this is my "dream" phone - that's y...its also the first SE phone that sony is combining its cybershot camera with its K series. Sporting a 3.2 megapix camera and small size...it combines both my needs and dreams! However - the camera DOESNT HAVE OPTICAL ZOOM!!!! stupid stupid stupid....

Specs: 106X47X22 mm
3.2 megapix with 16X optical zoom
sony memorycard m2 (smaller than duo) expandable with 64mb internal memory
3G

However this phone is not out yet - so 1. i'll have to wait till it comes out
2. IT wILL BE DAMN EXPENSIVE!!! like at least NZ$1200 i expect....T___T

3. Sharp T91
As i said, this is a pretty nice looking flip-phone (which i'd never had before), albeit quite big, but with awesome camera - the one with the 2X optical zoom! It looks pretty good - but its sharp and i havn't had much experience with it...

Its still a pretty expensive phone tho, and not to say - a pretty big phone too!!

This phone is out and currently still at least NT$22800 which is like still over NZ$1000....=(
