NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA

So on Friday night i left hospital earlier than usual (i.e. 6pm) and susan, the senior fellow, took me home. I found the guys (3 brazilian doctors) waiting at the busstop to go to target to shop so i joined them on the bus there and did some shopping. Anyways later on that night, camilla, this other brazillian girl, came around and drove us into town! and wow, cleveland IS alive at night, in certain places. There were a few clubs operating, we went to this one which had a live band in it playing all sorts of music - they even did one arctic money and some music i recognised from scrubs, pretty cool. But it got pretty empty a bit later on. Anyways - after a few drinks we left and took a cab home.

The next day i woke up late. The plan was to make it to cleveland rock and roll museum but i overslept. Ai. So instead i just went straight to the airport to pick up the car i booked...

YES!!! my little baby cherovet Malibu. AKA Moolibu. Hehe. Its a compact car (altho big in my terms, everyone drive SUV here...) quite powerful car. Very nice drive! i like it. Anyway, I got it from the airport so i didn't make it back till like 5pm - and immediately i went shopping at Beachwood Place, hehe. I had to make it to Dr Church's house for his dinner for research pple - and i didnt' get there till 7pm cos i got sidetracked by Abercrombie and Fitch (i spent a lot of money there, shit). So i was 1 hr late.

Oh driving in the US is exciting for me.

Cos they drive the opposite way! when i first picked up the car i had to chant to myself...opposite, i'm keeping to the right, i'm keeping to the right.
Everything is in miles/hr. EHH?? What is miles?? whats that? luckily the speed limits are well posted and the speed feels ard the same so its ok
You can turn right at right light! i didn't know that till i asked ard.
The car is new and cool!

So anyway i had a blast at dr church's house including playing piano upon request, hehe. This prompted Dr Church to say that i'd make a good colonoscopist with my fingers. Hm. You know the other day the patients was asking me if i do colonoscopes and i said "no" and dr church said "Not YET"....

i duno if that's a good thing.

HAhahah...i listened to this Cd while driving and it cracked me up. Apparently he plays this CD while he's scopign his patients and they get a kick out of it too. Ahh i think u'll have to be there to appreciate it. Anyhow

So i didn't get home till 2am as i got lost from Dr Church's house on the way home. Ai. Typical me. At least i' mon the car this time.

The next morning i got up late (again) at 730am instead of 6am, and started hitting the road.

NIAGARA FALLS!!

I'm so stoked. I've been dreaming abt this the moment i arrived at the US, talking to that woman on the plane to cleveland, her telling me that niagara falls is only 3hrs away and easily drivable...

AND I AM GOING TO CANADA!!! i love canada. canada canada...

So it was a nice drive from ohio, thru pennsylvania to New York, through Buffalo, over Peace Bridge throguh canadian customs into CANADA!! on the queen elizabeth way to the Falls.

Niagara Falls, Ontario, CA (not to be confused with Niagara Falls, New York, NY, which is over the bridge), is a beautiful place. Lots of nice hotels there.

You've already seen the first few pictures i took while i got there. Amazing water. All 130million L/sec going through the fall.

Niagara Falls is divided into 2 falls - the American Falls (US) and the Horseshoe Falls (Canada). Separated by Goat Island, the oldest national park in the US. I'll show you American Falls later. But my 1st mission was to get onto the Maid of the Mist. It was a 15min walk away from my car park, so i bought a pack of sushi (after craving it for so long - and iit costed CAN$14?! i don't care cos i wanted to try canadian salmon) and ate it as i walked. So i got there, paid and went on.

I already saw lots of ships going into the fall...

and i couldn't wait to get on! For those of you who dont' know, if you watched that movie where Jim Carry became God and gave Jennifer Aniston orgasms. er, anyway, in that movie he was a reported on this boat. It goes all the way up to the falls and it is amazing!!! First of all you get so close to the booming water, both american and horseshoe falls!

and also, i've never been so damn close to a rainbow before!~ Seriously this rainbow was right next to the boat. Apparently due to the amount of spray/mist created byt he falls, this is a very common sight. And my prev post showed a rainbow right beside the Rainbow Bridge, which connects the canadian and american side of the falls.

Next stop for me was the Journey Behind the Falls. This time i got to walk right beside the falls under the cliff that the water falls over! Amazing stuff. There was history on the walls explaining how the falls were created, and how it migrated from one place to another. Apparently, 4 of the 5 great lakes the north america drains into the niagara river into lake ontario - and becasue of the layers of rock that formed the ground, the top layer being softer than the other - the falls were created by erosion over time. Cool eh. Anyway, there were holes in the underground which opens right into the waterfall and you can feel the energy of the water flowing...
