Armish Country

So the weekend from 8-9th Oct I went to Armish Country, as Euny correectly guessed (and incorrectly spelt)

I'm sure you've heard of the armish pple - the religious people who live a separate way of life - live that forbids them from using electricity and owning modern technology. Wearing simple clothes, not allowed to own cars, no electricity at home.

They believe in what they believe in firmly and it stops the temptation from the outside world.

Judie, the owner of the house that i was staying at, is also an Au Pair LCC (leader thingee). Au Pair is this organisation that organises programs for overseas youth pple (18-26) to come to the US to work as a nanny for a year with a family. And they make trips out together yearly - and it so happens that last week was when they decided to go visit the armish country and i went with them! That's 26 girls from Brazil, Peru, Mehico, South Africa, Germany, Ukraine, Columbia, Uruguay...Man - now i know what you girls feel like when you hang ard a whole bunch of grammar guys!

Anyway - we drove south to this place called Berlin in Holmes County, apparently this is the biggest armish settlement in the US (40,000? can't remembeR). Visited the visitor centre for a video, then took a bus ride ard to look at the settlement. We then had a huge huge very very nice home cooked lunch at this armish house - chicken, beef, mashed potatoes, noodles, boiled beans, bread, home made peanut butter and butter, homemade lemonade and salad dressings, home made apple pie, peanut butter cream pie and pumpkin pie. Shit. I ate 2 servings of each. Had cramps from the food afterwards.

After that we visited the candle shop where we saw them make candles from wax! into nice patterns. Looked really pretty. But i didn't buy any.

On the way home we visited this armish supermarket place thingee - and guess what i saw therE:

Shit it was the single largest piece of chocolate i've ever seen in my life! seriously! It was like 10kg and maybe 70cmX40cmX3cm?? How the hell do you eat that? costs only $22 tho - so you chocolate lovers...

Sunday was a lazy day - i wanted to check out the rock and roll museum but i woke up too late- so i went for a bike ride ard town instead and came back with my new SanDisk 2GB flashdrive. The new function U3 is awesome - it lets you install programs onto your flashdrive e.g. winamp, skype - so you can use them anywherE!!! =P I mite see if i can install games onto it, hehehe.

Alrite.

  3. Ilia - pelican has a big, long, deep mouth that can hold multiple loads of fluid. and pelicans eat fish, so they are fishy.

Pelicans are the way of the future.
