Weekend: Newcastle and Sydney
First of all, an apology. Well to myself mostly, I left my camera in vidya's bag on the train, so i couldn't take any pictures of syd at all!!! i'm pissed.Oh, and i was gona load some of the newcastle pics onto the USB but i was too lazy and fell asleep.
So saturday, woke up and went for run, then we went to explore newcastle. Newcastle. Hmm....
Interesting city. More like a lack of city. THERE WAS NO ONE IN TOWN!! so empty. We walked around the beach. It was beautiful tho, i have to say. The weather was perfect over the weekend so the beach were so pretty. I was amazed. Beats missonbay anyday. There was this swimming pool that uses sea water. Theres a royal newcastle hospital right next to the sea too - nice view!! i wished i applied there instead.
Well we had lunch beside the sea, good view, and then went to the town centre. IT was so empty. Shops were closed, not much pple there at all. I expected something along the lines of newmarket, u know, where there's like shops and pple, i wanted to get a simcard etc...but no shops were open. On the tour guide there's this architectural walk that shows 33 buildings. hmmm....i duno who the hell organised that cos the walk was completely boring!!! Its like...torn down buildings, buildings in repair, and vidya and stella made me take photos of all the buildings....=____="
Anyways, we walked ard some more and decided to go to the information centre, then went to the ponsonby-like area with the cafes. Hm. Had a nice guava drink there and then went home.
=============
sunday.
woke up at 530am, rushed to the train statin (more like ran) to catch the 630 train to hamilton stations and then to sydney. Got to sydney by 9am. Met up with thomas. He took me around sydney, walked mostly. Sydney city is SOOO COOL!!!! I dduno how i didn't realise it the last time i went there for 1week. I MUST HAVE BEEN BLIND!!! ok so we walked all along george st, to circular quay, then to the opera house, past the harbour bridge, thru the botanical garden to the sydney conversatorium, then we went to this swisshotel to sit for a while. We then walked to Myer (this shopping centre), and then met up with thomas' gf at lunch at this harbour nxt to darling harbour. I had chicken rice, it was nice rice, not the best, they didn't have the chili i want, but it was damn filling! costed $21 tho, thomas' gf apparently treated me...feel kinda bad ><"
Then walked to The Rocks, it was really interesting! busting with pple, with this craft show, we went into this place which had turkish dances and food!! if only i wasnt' so full already. I really like that place eh, it has lots of nice little cafes from different countries and nice shops. wish i had more time to look ard. Then we went to look ard DFS, and thru this interesting place where apparently jack took LOTS of artistic photos. Wish i had my camera. Anyhows, then walked to this apartment and checked out the showroom at the 49th floor while lookin at sydney as well. Then went to easyway for a drink, then to chinatown. WOW. chinatown blew me away. Funny eh? While i was there the place was like full of asians. I walked into the shopping centre, it was like - shIT! this place looks asian (the design of the shops), smells asian (the mixture of chiense food and chinese medicine smell)....and everyone speaks asian!!! I freaking feel like i was in singapore. Even on the streets, all the shops had chinese signs. I walked ard feeling very sureal. Like i was back in taiwan or even singapore. Amazing. With places like that just ard the corner from nz, why do i even bother going bk to asia? Love it. THe shopping is pretty cheap too. Like affordable. I duno, i guessi never grew up in a place where lots of shopping centre exist, where we walk ard shopping centres regularly (like in sg). NZ shopping centres r way too boring.
Oh, the restaurant we had lunch in, Malaya, was beautiful too. Altho it was western setting, it looked out into the harbour (open balcony) and the weather was beautiful outside!! THe place ard it is like the american cup village style of architecture, except it is much much bigger, prettier, and busier!!!
And thru the day i managed to catchup with thomas as well. Its interesting to note how pple have changed, or havn't changed over the last 4 years. I still feel the same now talking to him as i did back then, except i would like to think that i'm a bit more aware of things than i was back in grammar. MAybe. Somehow talking to him, i feel like maybe i'm too simple and dumb. And part of me don't regret that at all - as long as i realise what others r up to, being simple and dumb is ok. Its that way of life that i like, and as long as i can identify those pple who can be simple and dumb together with me - i'm happy. Afterall, no one likes being tricked right? As long as i don't trick other pple, and i know when other pple are trying to trick me, i'm fine with that.
Its interestingseeing how thomas is gona graduate with 3 degrees after 4 years (he is 1 yr behind me), and about to move onto this company and make like $100000 per annum. And he already went thru the hand-picking process by the top companies and is secured a job. And how he's working full time at this job in uni of syd that's paying him nearly $7000/month.
And how i'm still living at home and not earning a cent.
But hey, i know thomas and i know that i have to discount certain things. But still, it doesn't matter what's real and whats not. If he can talk big, he must have soem sort of confidence, and with that, some success. And i'm happy for other's success! So i wish he's really doing well.
And then the train ride back to newcastle. I was so high from sydney. I duno why, but i really took a liking to syd. Maybe it was the wonderful weather that day - not a cloud in the sky, the temperature jus right for me to wear polotshirt without sweating, the right wind. Good public transport....
I wish i have picutre to show you guys. But dun worry. I am going back there again. And i am going to backtrack all the places i went to, and take photos. I just hope the werather is good enough!!

On a side note, I managed to succeed in putting in 2 outta 3 IV cannulas, and take 1 blood succefully today. = ) I hope I get better at it!! And gain confidence.
