London

So i arrived in London Heathrow airport at like 7am. The cue at customs was humungous - seriously, i waited in line for 1 hr before i got thru. Ridiculous. SO many pple wanting to visit london. Anyways, i changed some money (US$200 = 99quids?! - which i spent all in 1 day!??! fuck i spend that in 2 weeks in tanzania) and got my luggage.

Then it hits me. I'm in LONDON! in a NEW place! all by myself!!!

Called nif and jenny up to say hi and jenny's already returned from Ibiza waiting for me. I went to Northwest to ask some luggage questions and then proceeded to take the tube to Kingcross to meet Jenny.

The tube system in London is pretty easy to navigate - except it can be a bit confusing at first. I got a daypass which was 6quid (NZ$18?!). The picadilly like was good - rode on it leisurely, until:

"Due to construction works, this train will not stop at Kingcross station. Passengers travelling to King Cross please transfer to the Victoria line"

........king cross. KING CROSS?!!?!? wHAT?!?

Out of all statins king cross is not reachable!?

What the heck is the victoria line?!

By this time, we're already at a station and the doors of the tube were opening. I looked up at the map, luckily my eyes happened to zero in on our current station - and showed that it crossed with victoria line - so i jumped up, grabbed my huge luggage, and jumped of the tube. Just in time.

Ok, now, so what is the victoria line?

Things were wellposted so it was ok. Phew. And then began the process of dragging my luggage up and down the stairs to the platform...

When i got to kingcross i couldn't find jenny, so i used another 1quid to call her....3 freaking nz bucks...ouch. Finally met her and she took us to our hotel room at CEntral hotel. ITs a very very cosy (i.e. tiny) place but well maintained with nice rooms - i like it!

Thats king cross station above - its in repair apparently. Just like everywhere in london i went to.

As i promised myself in Tanzania, the first shop we went to after checking in was Starbucks. A frappe was what i had in mind but i ended up buying a coffee and sandwich cos it was a bit chilly and i was hungry. I wont' even talk abt the price...

Our first stop was Hyde park. Jenny wanted to show me where she went paddling in the lake and drinking pimms - except we never made it there and ended up at BUckingham palace instead.

OK, stupid blogger won't let me upload photos anymore so this is going to be continued...
