Day 2: Kyoto and ...this rural town...chang2 bing1 (chinese)

Alrite...this is pretty weird cos i`m sitting in the middle of the resort information desk using their laptop while pple are busy ard me, so i betta not spend too long on the computer..

Bascially today i visited all these shrines ...3 of them i think, all really beautiful. AT lunchtime went to this modelling thing where the girls wear those old shimonos and pararded ard. quite boring actually. spent most of the time on the bus.

Went to Nara also, visited the shrine there(only know chinese name unfortuantely, so until i can type chinese...and also i can:t figure out how to type kanji on this jap computer so don:t blame me)
btw the keyboard on this stupid computer is layed out slightly differently to the computers which i:m used to so ignore all the typos....and i:m unlikely to fix it later anyways..

So far the food has been crap. Yes i hav been eating jap food for all meals, but these are jap food that you guys can eat anywhere in the world - i:ve not tried anything overly special yet...will say when i do - but yea. THe food here is damn expensive too. Like one bowl of donbutsu is like 800yen...figure out conversion rate urself.

Hm..so here i am at this hotel that has a public spa...I:m actually wearing one of those jap shower-coats witgh only my underwear underneath rite now...feel kinda weird with the really long sleeves...had to wear this over dinner which was annyoing cos it gets in the way of the clothes.

Besides that - i find that being in a foreign country is actually scary. I didn:t realise how important it is to be able to speak and ask questions - i mean i:ve been used to b in english places for so long that now no one speaks eng and my jap is absolutely crap...

i want to pick up jap when i get back to nz again.

and i was dreaminig while on the bus today abt coming here to like say...live and work for a few months - 1yr? haha...duno if that:ll ever happen - but i hav to improve my jap to a certain survivable standard first. THe thing is .... i:m actually getting qutie a good impression of japan so far...yes i:m not going to tokyo and won:t this trip , so i havnt really seen that metropolitan life, but otherwise - the countryside4 living is kinda like a really really clean....kaoshiong?? as i said there:s this mix of western and asian which is intriguing.

So dreams aside, at this temple, under on of the poles there was this hole which i climbed thru. apparently it gives u luck.

I also paid 100 for this luck paper thingee which i got outta the machine. IT was actually a VERY GOOD LUCK thing that i got...(u know one of those things which tells u ur luck?) anyways it says that if i shudn:t marry cos me and my partner won:t understand each other...oh well....not that i HAVE someone to marry anyway.

Alrite i m sitting here using the computer like its no one:s business and i:m feeliung damn guilty, so i betta stop. OHh things r quiet now.

Nxt thing theres 16 pple in our group. its an ok group. nothing interesting to comment abt until i:m in a private place i.e my home and i:ll c what happens.

anyhows...i:ve been eating heaps all these days so don:t worry. my tummy is abt to burst too.

ohh waikato allocations r out...din:t get one of them that i wanted...ah well...

hmmm anyway i think i betta leave the computer alone...

Tomorrow is back to kyoto and then to osaka for 2 more days.
The things i wana buy here are:
stationary
comics-anime related stuff
some clothes?duno if can fit me
some jap stuff?

anyway i beta go

later
